I FACILITATED A SESSION ON EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE FOR EDUCATORS AT THE TEACHERS-IN-TRAINING BOOT CAMP (KLCI)

I remember how excited I was while preparing for this session. "EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE FOR EDUCATORS". 

Yes! So Excited. 

Today also marked another great day I will never forget in my life.  And I'm so glad it came through. How I wish I had the opportunity to take the participants on a journey of Mind Shift as regard EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE beyond what the time and network permitted us today. 

I remember while preparing for this session. I began to realize that there are so many things I've done in the past and I don't have the opportunity to share. But sincerely speaking, we learn more from experience sharing and storytelling. 

Using storytelling with this session made it more interesting. And I'm glad that the participants have taken some lessons from this. 

Truly, Educators are not just teachers but life changers. 

As educators, our learners act sometimes in a way to call our attention to what's going on or going wrong with them, but we ignore and rather scream at them to make them do what we want. Most times, they need compassion. 

Hello Mr. Teacher... This is not about you alone. It's about the lives you've been assigned to influence with great changes. 

I discussed the elements of EQ using practical experiences. I dwelled more on self-awareness and Empathy for better comprehension. 

I also talked about the three kinds of Empathy, which are; 

➡Cognitive Empathy 

➡ Emotional Empathy 

➡ Empathic Concern

Sometimes we try to act as if we care for these kids, but in its reality, we have not identified the real point of pains of their pains not to talk of proffering solutions. 

If truly we want to have a great influence on our learners, we need to consider taking Emotional Intelligence to a level of utmost interest. Not only that, but this will also help us live purposefully in all we do. 

 If truly we want the world to be better we need to invest more in Education and empower Educators with relevant skills of this kind, to help them become more productive at work and drive gently toward their personal success. 

EI is the Fuel for Peak Performance.
