I SHARED MY VIEW ON THE PHASED RE-OPENING OF THE EDUCATIONAL SECTOR AND ITS CHALLENGES WITH KAFTAN TV.
It feels so great sharing my view on the "PHASED RE-OPENING OF THE EDUCATIONAL SECTOR AND ITS CHALLENGES" with these set of amazing presenters, Faith and Tope at KAFTAN TV.
Like you all know that this re-opening is basically in favour of the secondary school students in the exit classes for the purpose of participating in the forthcoming WASSCE. Of which, if the guides that are being provided by the FMoH, NCDC and WHO are duly followed, I believe we should have more insights to creating better educational and health policies that will not only suffice us this time but be a sustainable solution to address the laxity we have in the Education System.
We also talked about the tertiary institutions not be considered for re-opening yet, despite the fact that they are adults and they are expected to know how to adapt well to the measures being provided for safety precautions, and also about the adverse effect this is really posing on the undergraduate students.
I believe that this time, students should have understood better that personal development is very key. And this is a period for them to invest in themselves by all good means without pushing all complaints and blames on the government while doing nothing.
However, some schools completely switched to online learning, they also had their exams, and even did convocation during this period.
- But what would be the fate of learners at all levels, including the primary schools, who will not have the courage or perhaps the interest to be back to school again.
- I mean, students who are being forced to go to school when things seemed normal but now on the street, hawking and hustling to get something to support themselves and their family.
- These children have already developed a new habit that would take some time for us to get them back on track academically, emotionally, mentally and socially.
Kudos to all Educators, Nongovernmental Organizations, Philanthropists, Government Agencies, and Change-Makers who keep engaging learners with several initiatives to help them remain focused and dedicated to learning.
COVID-19 might have come to stay as some presumed, but we need to live and live again.
Thanks to Julius Ilori for the good recommendation.
