Student Leadership: Esther Odekunle at the Teach for Nigeria 2022 PRE-SERVICE INSTITUTE TRAINING for Prospective Fellows.

Esther at the 2022 PRE-SERVICE INSTITUTE TRAINING at Teach for Nigeria.

Growth is an important part of both personal and organizational success.

When I began my fellowship journey with Teach for Nigeria, I had several reflections on how to help my learners harness their potentials for personal success and global peace.

It's not an exaggeration to say that I am proud of what my students are becoming.

I remember being more intentional about their personal development at the beginning of the year and how I have worked with them to make progressive moves towards achieving their set goals.

Having one of my students, Esther Odekunle, being invited as a panelist at the 2022 PRE-SERVICE INSTITUTE TRAINING for Prospective Fellows is a great motivation for me this month.

The session was moderated by Folawe Omikunle, CEO, Teach for Nigeria and I could see how she has improved with her public speaking skills while she responded to the questions.

Esther did not only wowed me but also the audience of about 350 participants who loved her story and the way she shared as she was so vulnerable to share deep stories with them.

This year, Esther has been invited to speak in more than 7 different events, both virtual and physical, including international events, and she gets better at every event.

At one point, I felt so humbled listening to what she shared about my work with her and her colleagues and how we've been growing together.

I am glad about what she is becoming and I hope she gets more opportunities to live her true dream.

Learning is a journey just as life is.

 - As a teacher-leader, I give my students the courage to try and the confidence to be their best self.

  - I train them to be as real as possible and be sincere in their engagement.

  - They've also learned what it means to be passionate for a cause.

  - I help them face difficult challenges in a seamless way.

  - They've learned what it means to take risks and remain positive about the results.
